The past few days the girls, my mom and I were in Lawton, OK at Ft. Sill. My baby brother, Kevin, has been in basic training since early November... he finally graduated this past Thursday. We are SO incredibly proud of him. He has come so far and I couldnt be more proud to call him my brother. Seeing him in his uniform, acting like a soldier, seeing him walk across the stage... was amazing. He is a man now. No longer a boy.

Allison was so happy to see her Uncle Kevin... can you tell by the picture?

And you have to love those birth control glasses they made him wear!!! HAHA!

My beautiful little niece, Britney, turned a year old on Febuary 1st so I had the pleasure of taking her one year old pictures. She's just so cute and I love the facial expressions that she makes. She was really making me work for those smiles... she was being a tough cookie today! Im hoping once the weather is nicer, we can take her downtown or so and get some pictures of her running around outside.

Can you tell by Melanie's hairclip what the theme of her birthday party is? Think punk, pink & black, skulls with pink bows... should be super cute!

Remember these girls? You see them quit a bit around here. Madison is Allison's BFF and Melanie is Ava's little buddy. Melanie is turning one at the end of the month, which is so hard for me to grasp... I feel like it was just last week I photographed her birth!

Allison goes to gymnastics with Madison. Madison thinks her name is Madison Johnson (Shawn Johnson), its pretty cute! She wanted to have pictures taken with her Shawn Johnson leotard. It was fun to do something a little different.

And that first picture of Melanie... crazy sunflare! I love it though! Its so fun and different... I didnt add any sunflare in PS or in my PP'ing, it was all in camera. Just got a crazy camera angle with the sun behind the backdrop!

Viva Las Vegas

This past weekend Mike and I went to Las Vegas for a weekend getaway! It was just what we needed... four days without the kiddos, to spend time with each other and just be carefree. It was pretty much awesome! We had so much fun... and on top of that, we stayed with our best friends that live there so it was great to be able to see them and spend time with them.

On Saturday we went to Brians Beach and had all you can eat sushi and it was SO delicious, I wish there was one here in CO because Im pretty sure Id be there every week (and probably be 50lbs. heavier!). After the sushi we went to see Lance Burton at the Monte Carlo. It was a lot of fun, we have never been to a Vegas show before so it was neat trying something new.

We sure missed being away from the girls though... it was so much fun seeing them when we got back. Its funny as parents you always want a break but at the same time being away from them is hard! All in all we had a fabulous time and cant wait to do it again!

8 Months Old

I cannot believe my little Ava is already 8 months old.

She is the baby of all the babies in my group of friends and now that she is crawling and pulling up it just makes her feel so... grown up. She is such a joy now... laughs at so much, is always happy, waves hi and bye, says "dada" non-stop (no mama yet, boo!), crawls, pulls up, loves playing with her sister and cousins and is just becoming such a big baby girl.

Mike and I are so blessed to have such another beautiful little girl... and we have been so lucky that she is such a easy baby (knock on wood). She has been sleeping through the night since she was a couple months old (7pm-7am) and loves napping on a regular schedule. She is always happy and content with whatever we do. I just adore and love her so much. And hope and pray that she continues to be so laid back and easy... even through those tough 2 and 3 year old stages, haha, hey, a mom can dream, right?!

I started off just taking pictures of the flowers Mike got me yesterday when I decided to take my 50mm 1.4 off my camera body, turn it around and take pictures that way.

I reeeeeeeeally reaaally really want the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro. So if anyone is looking around for my Christmas gift, there's a nice hint! ;)

My little brother, Kevin, is becoming a man.

Early this morning, Kevin shipped off to basic training. He joined the Army.

I can't believe my little brother is now a American soldier. We are all so incredibly proud of him and support him 110%. I think he has made a very curagious decision and is truely becoming a man. He is such a funny, fun loving, very smart, super handsome guy. The Army is lucky to have him join their forces. He will do nothing but make them proud. Just like he has done with his family.

And don't mind the same location as the M family. Kevin tagged along on that shoot so I could snap some pictures of him afterwards. :)

Remembering Melissa

Today we are remembering our dear friend, Melissa. Now in heaven watching over us all. We miss her so much already and caanot believe she is really gone.

She was such a fun person, always there to have a good time... always putting a smile on everyones face. She loved to play softball and I will never forget out summer we played together.... she rocked at softball!

Today is the memorial for Melissa so please pray for all her loved ones, especially those two little boys of hers. Thank you!

Yesterday evening I recieved heart wrenching news that my friend, Melissa, had passed away. It is so unexpected and we are all shock. Such terribly sad news... only two weeks ago she was in a terrible motorcycle accident and miraculously, came out of that alive. Her friend on the motocycle wasn't as lucky. She was recovering wonderfully! My heart aches for her two young sons, I cannot even begin to imagine what they must be going through.

If you are the praying kind, will you please keep Melissa, her two boys and her family in your prayers during this tough time.

Melissa... you will be missed dearly. You were an amazing person and a great friend, words cannot express how sad we all are to see you go. We love you!

Amazing Opportunity!

For the last two years I have been working with Tryg & Charlotte of Trystan Photography as their assistant. They are amazing photographers and incredible people. They are so good at what they do and so much fun to be around. It has been a wonderful journey with them this far and I look forward to many more great memories with them!

They have offered me a job with their business that I cannot pass up. It's everything I have wanted out of photography and I cannot wait to join their team!! They will open up so many more doors for me which I am so very excited about!

The semi-sad news is... that I will be closing Kim Harms Photography. Which, I am okay with. I can always re-open my business in the future when I am ready, but for now, this is the best decision for me, my family and my business.

This blog will become my personal blog... I'll still post pictures I take of friends and family and of course, my little girls!

Thanks to all who have made my business get to where it is today... I appreciate everything and everyone that has helped me get here. You all have been amazing clients and I hope to still see you... just through Trystan Photography!

Our baby is five months old.

She is just the sweetest little girl... she hardly ever cries and is always so content and happy. Mike and I truely are blessed with such a easygoing and happy little one.

She is starting to sit up for a few seconds at a time when she wants to and its pretty cute. I cant wait for her to be at the age where she can sit and play with Allie on the floor. But I won't rush it either, be happy with where she's at right now.

Our Other Half

The Larson's are the Harms' other half. One of our best friends... wifes are best buds, the hubbies love each other more than anyone, Mady and Allie have been friends since they were 8 months old and now Melanie and Ava are flood buddies. So much fun!

I took family pictures of them as well as Melanie's 6 month pictures and Madison's 3 year. Madison is so much fun in front of the camera, always clowning around and giving me little grins. Melanie is just as much a doll as Mady, always smiling and happy.

They were a blast (and so easy!) to photograph! Thanks Larsons! :)

While I was on vacation in California I met up with my friend, Ariana, and did a session with her and her two adorable boys! Oliver was such a ham and did everything I told him to, it was awesome! Elliot on the other hand is just like Allison and isnt too fond of looking at the camera much. Must be the age! :)

Everything was going well till Oliver decided to throw two fist fulls of sand into Elliots face... so we had a minor setback while we tried to flush the sand out of Elliots eyes. Luckily, he recovered after playing with some beach toys and let me take a few more shots of him... up in the grass!

Paige has been one of my best friends for the past year and I was lucky enough to photograph her and her gorgeous family this past weekend. Her husband, Mark, will be deploying to Iraq next month so Paige and the girls will be moving back to Texas to be with their families. And all I can say is I am going to miss them so incredibly much. Jillian has become one of Allison's best friends and Allie's eyes just light up when we mention Jillians name. It brings tears to my eyes to think of them moving away... but I know it will be best for their family and I wish them nothing but the best. And its not goodbye forever... we will see each other again!

All these were taken with my D50... man was it hard to use that camera after my 5D! I nearly had to relearn it. Buuut great news... I got my 5D back yesterday evening! Wahoo!! I tried it out, of course, and I forgot how amazing it is! :) Dorky, I know. But true!

We're back!

We are back home after spending the last week at South Padre Island! We had an amazing time! Allison loved everything from flying on an airplane, to collecting sand on the beach (yes, sand!) to seeing a real jellyfish on the beach!

This past weekend we went to the Denver Aquarium and just outside the aquarium they have a petting zoo. Only the petting zoo doesnt have cute little sheep and goats... they have snakes, lizards & turtles. Now I am not a fan of snakes but the kids all wanted to go in there... amazing how they have no fear of those things. And some of the snakes were huge... Allison loved touching them and playing with them. I just had my video camera but didnt dare touch one. yuck! They also had a pretty big turtle that the little kids took turns riding, too cute!

I've photographed Brandon before but he came over and hung out with Allie yesterday and I had to snap a few pictures, he's seriously the cutest little boy ever. I always tell his mom he's Gap model material! He has the longest eyelashes, the bluest eyes and the cutest face!
